Just heard that Patty Jensens Charbonnel War Games daughter won at the Denver Specialty in the USA today.....Well done Patty and Margarita her breeder. Peter now has 2 Champion daughters.
We have received photos from Jane Vilas Boas in Brazil, where her Warlord son CHARBONNEL WARPLAY has been doing exceptionally well for her. Charlie was always SO laid back, we are really thrilled that he has become such a happy show dog !!
I was pleased to hear that Nathalie de Paule and CHARBONNEL POPSICLE won their class today at the WORLD DOG SHOW in DENMARK. Well done to everyone who figured in the placings. Click here to see the Cocker Spaniel results.
Some big news from Laura Haverstick in the USA is that "Lizzie" Charbonnel Hugs N' Kisses now has her ECM title. Her daughter Ch.Eglesfeld's Day Lily has earned all her agility titles , was ranked # 5 agility dog in the US last month and almost has her Mach title, thanks to Laura's close friend, Lynn James.
Lizzie will be 10 in December this year. Laura says : " She has been such a wonderful dog and greatest bed partner for so long" ..... Thanks Laura for looking after her so well.
So very happy for Lee and Patsy and their young gun Lenny,Charbonnel Law 'n' Order, who won both his classes at Three Counties Championship show today under Lesley Spencer (Terriles) He has now won his Junior Warrant with points to spare. We are all thrilled for this lovely sporting couple who have only been showing for 2 years.Patsy puts Lenny down a treat,as you can see from these photos.....
Congrats too to Barbara and Graham and Charbonnel Baronette for Jalankui who was 2nd in Special Yearling.
Due to ongoing health problems I am looking for new homes for some of my dogs....probably on a permanent basis. These include current show dogs with good wins under their belts. Please email me for more details. Priority will be given to those exhibitors/breeders known to me, who show at Championship show level and who present to a high standard. Overseas homes will be considered, again, to those whom I know.
It's official !! Sonja is now SH.CH.Charbonnel Dream Design JW., as her certificates have all arrived this morning. Many thanks for all the cards and congrats, I think the most cards we have ever received for a newly-crowned Champion. Thanks to Joan Glennerster, Moira Forfar and Andrew Jones for her 3 C.C.'s. She will be selectively shown now before being mated in the autumn /next spring.
A beautiful sunny weekend at Southern Counties spent with some superb dogs, happy people and even more importantly, the best daughter in the world !!
Under Bonnie Threlfall (Edgewood), from the USA , Sonja won a high-quality Open Bitch class, which we were really thrilled with. Congrats too to Teresa and Archie,Charbonnel First Design, for getting placed in their class.
The next day deerhound Fliss won a 4th in Post Grad ,which we were happy with, given that the microphone system had practically deafened us and caused Fliss to ' flip' as we walked her past it just before judging started.
Wendy Worgan who owns Charbonnel Swedish Warrior was pleased to tell us that Jack has now gained his Bronze Good Citizen award which makes us very proud....hopefully it will be your silver soon Jack !!
Back in Cheshire on Sunday, Lindsay Norris and Charbonnel Sugar'n'Spice had a good day winning BEST VETERAN IN SHOW at Crewe and District under Mr.Bendelow, and Lee and Patsy won another 2 Junior Warrant Points with Charbonnel Law'n'Order by winning 2 classes under Coral Morris ( Riondel). Following on from her success last week, Sonja kept up the momentum and won her 3rd CC and BIS at the Cocker Spaniel Club of Scotland Championship show. Many thanks to judge Mr Andrew Jones, (Shenmore) who judged bitches, and Mrs.Audrey Quartermain, who was judging dogs and who agreed to Sonja's BIS win. She is our 12th Cocker Spaniel Show Champion and is still only 5 generations on from our first Champion bitch, crowned in 1985......25 years ago.
Huge Congratulations to Hannah, for all her hard work in keeping Sonja in excellent muscular condition, and for her many good wins with her, including her 1st RCC to Ambrogina while still a puppy, under Kate Keeley at Yorkshire CSC .She has won her awards in excellent company ,and I am truly proud of her.
Of course, once again, I have to thank Monica for allowing 'senior Sonja' to come to stay with us and for giving us the opportunity to have such beautiful youngsters to show. There are now 4 Champions in the ring internationally from the liaison of our Jack to Sonja, plus one waiting for one more CC in Denmark, little Maggie with Pia. I'm sure her title will not be far away Pia !
We wish everyone who has puppies by Jack (and our other dogs of course) lots of success this year in the ring !
Photos below taken on the day......
Special thanks go to Lou Wilding,Mike Wildman,David Todd and the many kind folk who helped me when my knee gave up on me today.I couldn't have coped without you all !!
A rewarding day for our kennel today, spoiled only by health problems which seem to be hard to escape of late. I'm pleased to report that Hannah's CHARBONNEL DREAM DESIGN JW ,little Sonja, won her 2nd CC today under Mrs.Moira Forfar in very good company, including Sue and Annies Sh.Ch.Lujesa Touch the Sky who won the RCC .Many thanks to all for their congratulations ! Congrats to Pat Whitehead and her blue puppy bitch Ryallcourt Carnival Maid ,a Tony daughter, who won Best Puppy in show ,again on the referees decision.
Our Timmy was the only one in his class, but we have a photo of him, from a 'different' angle,so thought I'd feature him anyway....
Many thanks to Lee and Graham for the photos, and to Mike,Ian,Lee,Patsy and Jo for their kindness and support on what was quite a long and difficult day.
On Sunday Sonja and her 'gang' went up the fields to stretch their legs.Seeing these photos just makes one realise how much muscle tone they must have ....wonderful to see them enjoy life to the full. No matter what life throws at us they should never be denied their exercise .....

Just wanted to feature this photo of Lenny on the move at Crufts. Although photo quality not brilliant,. it does illustrate how much he powers along, using his quarters and hocks, and his front reach is excellent too.....!
Joe,MANACAS MONEY MONEY MONEY is now here in the UK with us....a pleasant surprise for him, given the weather in Sweden last week :
Soon Joe will have his own page, and will be strutting his stuff in the ring ......thanks Monica for this pleasant red boy with his sweet temperament and zest for life !!!
Gundog day at Crufts relatively flew this year. There didn't seem to be the usual buzz of excitement around the ring initially, and a lot of the regular overseas visitors were missing, but the dogs enjoyed it. Some good results for our kennel under Judges Sue Pudney (Dogs) and Frank Kane (bitches):

Our JOE - alias Manaca's Money Money Money (from Monica's Abba litter) - has arrived safe and sound from Sweden. He will soon have his own page, just like he already has his own litttle harem of bitches who are all quite taken with him. His temperament is impeccable and he has a rich red coat and happy disposition. I hope he will be a boon to our kennel, having some interesting dogs behind him. Photos to follow......
We received confirmation from the Kennel Club today that Timmy has now been awarded his Junior Warrant, and is now officially CHARBONNEL LIFE 'n' TIMES JW.
Another Best in Show for Timmy today, this time under Jan Beever at Lancashire Cocker Open Show. Unfortunately the bad weather meant there was a depleted entry, but there was a good atmosphere and, as always with Northern shows, good grub ! Congrats to the winners....

A super day at the Parti-Colour CS Club Open show where Jackie Wyeth (Fendrove) was judging....our Timmy needed just one point to complete his Junior Warrant, which he won,but he went on to win his 3 classes and Best in Show !! What really pleased us was that his half-sister,who is also out of our Charbonnel Pinny 'n' Pearls, Tina Beswick's Charbonnel Hide 'n' Chic at Cachel, won Open Bitch and won Reserve Best in Show. Not a huge entry, but a lovely atmosphere, and excellent food !
