Hound News - 2010

Debut day for our beagle bitch pups today....Midland Counties under breed specialist Wendy Hall (Cliffmere). Thanks to the kind, sympathetic handling of both Lynn Bailey and Kristen Theobald both Ditto and Drizzle did exceptionally well, both of them being shortlisted in a Minor Puppy Bitch class of 13,and with Ditto winning 3rd and qualifying for Crufts first time out.!! I was SO pleased,as you can imagine,as both pups behaved so well and were both outgoing and laid back about it all. Thanks Lynn and Kristen, you made a wonky-kneed old woman very happy !!!

Quality of photos not brilliant,sorry......

Thanks to the PBGV judge Mrs Sue Ergis at Welsh Kennel Club today because she awarded our PBGV puppy bitch CHARBONNEL WHITNEY the RCC and Best Puppy in breed. Whitney now has 2 RCC's.

Our deerhound youngster Fliss also won Post Grad under Pam Marston-Pollock,so a lovely day despite the weather.I enjoyed some in-depth chat about deerhounds, such passionate people when it comes to their breed are deerhound folk....

Fliss continued her winning ways today by winning her class at Bournemouth Championship show under Mrs.Nicky Bailey (Greyflax).Beautiful weather almost made up for a great deal of arthritic pain which was relentless today for some reason.Just not fair.......

The HoundShow at Stafford incorporates the Deerhound Club championship show, and I was thrilled that today the judge Dr.Sarah Helps (Beardswood) awarded our Fliss the Reserve Bitch CC in excellent company, having won the biggest bitch class of the day, Post Grad. Congrats to all the other winners...as usual a friendly atmosphere prevailed. Full results here.

Our hounds had a great day at Blackpool......Coco won her 2nd CC and BoB in PBGV's under Breed Specialist Mrs.Ann Holdsworth and Whitney, her daughter, won the RCC behind her and Best Puppy, her 3rd BP in 4 shows attended !! In the next ring our lovely Fliss won the Graduate class in Deerhounds, judged by the well-respected hound judge Mrs.Eleanor Bothwell. Besides being a day to remember for it's successes, it was also a very enjoyable day, with wonderful company and conversation. HUGE thanks to Marion Sweeney for the lovely photos she took of our dogs today, as always quality pics........

Coco and Whitney

Another enjoyable day in and around the Hound rings at Border Union....Coco and Whitney won a 2nd and 3rd respectively under PBGV breed specialist Rose Phillips, and our gentle giant Fliss won the Post Graduate bitch class under deerhound breed specialist Dr.Marjory McKinnon. Many thanks to Mike for his companionship and help, couldn't have done it without you.....!!

Congrats today to Wendy and Gareth on their super Best Puppy In Show at the Scottish Beagle Championship Show with their Minor Puppy dog Bellvalley Danny Boy ,who is out of Charbonnel Gossip.Very proud to have a hand in this lovely youngsters creation...!! (hopefully photos to come...)

As always there was a relaxed, happy atmosphere at the Beagle Club Championship show today, and the weather was perfect for sitting and chatting about hounds, horses and anything else you could think of.... There was a quality entry for the judges to sort, and in the interval we were treated to a visit from the resident pack, including the champion beagle dog hound RAC's Charlton 08 .Obviously type was different, as with any working strain of a pedigree breed, but toplines were noticeably firm, legs straight and strong, muscling superb and temperaments infallible. And most were quite biddable !

My friend Wendy and her family had the day out from the farm to show their 2 hounds, and I was pleased to see that my Charbonnel Gossip mated to their Bellvalley Maddock has produced a very promising dog puppy, Bellvalley Danny Boy. I managed to get a couple of shots of him in his class, were he was easily the youngest, and he showed really well.....good luck with him Gareth !!

Whitney did us proud again today by winning her class and Best Puppy in Breed at Three Counties under judge Jenny Startup. Her dam Coco was 2nd in Open Bitch,so we were very pleased.

Our PBGV puppy Whitneys first show was today at Bath Championship show and she hit the ring with a bang by winning Best Puppy in Breed under Mrs.Patricia Wells and followed on with a 4th in the Hound Puppy Group under the respected hound judge Mrs.Denise Courtney. To say we were thrilled would be an understatement, especially as the Whippet who won our Puppy Group went on to win Best Puppy in Show.!!

Fliss was ably handled by Hannah and won 4th in a good Post Grad class...photo shows her relaxing later in the day.....

Riffraff has done us proud by producing the most beautiful litter of pups to Ch.Serenaker Devil in Disguise (photo below). We have 6 bitches and 1 dog, so we hope to have a show prospect for ourselves, but there will also be some available to kind, knowledgeable homes, either for show or just beautiful pets !
